In Arabia, people travel on camels. This region is covered with vast desert. In the desert when the sun is at peak, travel becomes impossible. There are hardly any trees, shade or home in the desert. This is why, people would begin travelling before dawn. They begun after midnight. This was so that they could reach their destination before the sun reached peak intensity. If they didn't reach their destination, both the traveller and his camel could die. The Prophet said that one who wants to reach his destination begins travel very early in the night. One who begins very early reaches his destination.

The Prophet said that the same is true of Paradise: مَنْ خَافَ أَدْلَجَ، وَمَنْ أَدْلَجَ بَلَغَ الْمَنْزِلَ، أَلاَ إِنَّ سِلْعَةَ اللهِ غَالِيَةٌ، أَلاَ إِنَّ سِلْعَةَ اللهِ الجَنَّةُ (Sunan al-Tirmidhi 2450) He who is afraid of pillage of the enemy sets out in the early part of night. He who sets out early, reaches his destination. Be on your guard: God's merchandise is precious. Verily God's merchandise is Paradise!  

We have to do the same for Paradise. We have to lead life very cautiously. We have to do extensive planning to journey toward Paradise. If we get distracted, we lose sight of our destination. We won't be able to reach the place. A traveller who has to journey long distances, travels with great planning. This is how we have to prepare for Paradise. We have to plan for reaching Paradise.

A Hindi poet has said:

He addresses his lover in these words: The path leading to you is very difficult!

The path to Paradise is indeed very difficult. One has to traverse through thorny bushes. When you walk through bushes, you have to be very careful so that you don’t get entangled in the bushes or be pricked by thorns. A person walks carefully in this world to reach his destination, otherwise he will be trapped. This is how we have to walk towards Paradise. Every time Satan tries to deviate us. Our desires distract us. We have to walk with utmost caution to reach the Hereafter.
